Reclaimed quarry tiles laying

Any tips on laying original quarry tiles on my newly laid lime screed? I have spoken to mike wye who advised on adhere cal for my limestone flooring however not sure this will be suitable for my quarry tiles, any products out there to clean and seal the tiles? I will be butt jointing them any need to fill the small joint lines? Some of the tiles have curved from foot traffic over the years!! So no doubt will be fun laying them! See pictures attached

I laid mine on NHL5 lime screed. However I had to lay then one by one as they were reclaims and not all the same thickness. So long as you grout I don't think you will need to lay them on anything special. The victorians laid tiles edge to edge and grouted with pure liquid cement. If you want to use lime, then perhaps pure NHL would work, but I used a grout from Ty Mawr which was lime with a very very fine aggregate. It felt like talk or marble dust and it has been good for the last 5 years or so..

Thanks for your reply what thickness was the bedding you used for the quarry tiles?

Hello, I think it was between 5 and 8 cm dto deal with the difference in tile thickness.

A bit late I know, but hopefully not too late.
I spent months trying to find out how to seal and finish my reclaimed, hand made, porous quarry tiles and found so many conflicting answers. In the end I gave them a few coats of linseed oil until I was happy with the depth of red colour (Boiled or raw linseed are fine, but bear in mind boiled dries quicker) and them I sealed them with LTP stone sealer. I now maintain them with Diversey Carefree Eternum (Ammonia based clean and seal) and they look beautiful.
If you go on the Internet you'll see lots of posts saying don't use linseed oil, but that's because there's a lot of confusion out there about what is a quarry tile. A lot of people think of the modern ceramic red tiles which are impervious and I expect would be very messy if covered with linseed oil. Post some pictures if you can when you've finished.
