Rebuilding a bedroom chimey breast

Hi there

Can anyone help? I have bought a victorian property and the chimney breast has been removed in the bedroom - the breast is still in the front room and the stacks etc are still there in the loft. I would like to get this reconnected - but are unsure of how much work it would be and what it will entall. Does anyone have any ideas??

Without seeing the situation I don't think anyone can give you detailed advice. Do I understand correctly that the chimney stack has been removed at first floor level, leaving the original stack full height on the ground floor, and a "dummy" supported stack in the loft and above the roof?
If so, then I can't see that it would be too much of a major building job to build the middle part of the brick stack to rejoin the two together. It's a straightforward bricklaying job (with perhaps a bit of carpentry thrown in, if some of your flooring joists need to be replanned).

Yes the chimney breat has been taken out the bedroom and the hole it left there - filled in. It looks like it is still there in the loft as you can see it - I guess it is supported with gallow brackets? Does anyone have any good contacts that I could get in to look at getting this rebuild. I am based Essex/London borders. I don't want some cowboy rebuilding it!
