I have a 480k ten years old, got it serviced today and guess what, the boiler is leaking. I rang up rayburn to find out they do not supply a spare boiler. Can anyone help! where can I purchase one from, and maybe the cost. Is this a major strip down. RAYBURN NO HELP

What is it with Rayburns?

Our lovely Aga was at least 50 years old (perhaps more, judging by the maid in cap and apron on the front of the instruction book) and it never gave us a moment's trouble.

Perhaps it's another case of "they don't make 'em like that any more"?

To be fair, though, most Agas don't include a boiler, which seems to be the problem with the Rayburn.

No boiler can be expected to last for ever, although ten years (or less!) does seem pretty poor. What I would criticise is the fact that they didn't foresee that people would need to be able to take the boiler out and they should have considered ease of replacement at the design stage.

I totally agree, for a manufacturer to produce goods that can not be repaired is criminal. There must be alot of peole out there with this problem and retailing at FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS THIS IS NOT A THROW AWAY ITEM.

I've seen details on the web of people who make replacement boilers for the 480K but can't remember where. Try searching on this site and then a google search. The boiler itself is probably not a complex bit of engineering and can perhaps be copied locally - I gather that fitting it is another matter!

I've also seen/heard comments from those who have managed to run it with a leaky boiler for a couple of months before replacement, so it might be possible to delay removal until into the warmer months.

Please keep us posted of progress as it is something that more of us may need to face up to sooner rather than later!

I HAVE A ROYAL RAYBURN, WHICH VERY SOON I WILL BE REMOVING FROM A 200 YEAR OLD COTTAGE, THE RAYBURN WORKS LIKE A DREAM, BUT IT HAS TO REMOVED, SO THERE MIGHT BE ONE FOR SALE.

hi , we had this happen and we got hold of forward fabrications, on the net. They are in sheffield and they quoted us approx £600 for a new boiler....this was up to £500 less(!) than we had been quoted by middle men, so they are def. worth a try to see if they do one for your rayburn.
It will be a strip down for your rayburn , I'm sorry. We got a competant plumber friend of ours to do it and then got a gas man to reconnect. I dont know why this is such a problem but I know with our rayburn we had bought it secondhand and it had been standing unused for a while and the water corroded the boiler. It might be poss to get it welded, we did look into this but decided to get a new one as it meant we would hopefully have no more problems, which has been the case.
It might be worth looking on ebay to see if you can get one cheaper with an intact boiler, but if you do make sure that it is working and has not been standing unused. This hopefully would protect against the corroded boiler syndrome....regards ANN

A friend bought one from this company and has been very satisfied. Yours isn't listed but I don't think they have all the models listed.
