Can anyone recommend what to use to re-point an ingle-nook fire-place? It looks like the original pointing is a fire-proof lime-mortar; very white and hard. We now have a wood-burner in the space, so immediate heat is lessened. Thanks.
I used ordinary (fat) lime mortar for ours and it seems fine so far (2 months). We have a log burning stove and the inglenook is quite small so it gets fairly warm.
