Hi
I have recently moved into a period property & need to do a few minor repairs which I am after some advice on.
Firstly, our hall floor is made up of traditional quarry tiles laid on sand. A few of the tiles are now loose & need to be relaid.
What type of sand would they have been laid on, as there are voids to fill or does it matter ?
They appear to have bedded in with a lime of some sort. What lime & mix should I use ?
They will require grouting afterwards between the gaps ( Approx. 5 mm gaps). What grout should I use ?
Secondly, the cellar floor is also traditional quarry tiles laid on what appears to be clay. A few of these are loose & also need re-laying.
Would I use the same bedding & grout as for the hall quarry tiles ?
Lastly, there is also a small amount of repointing required to the inside of the cellar wall.
What lime & mix should I use for the mortar ?
many thanks
