Hi Barbara
I also live in Stoke on Trent and cannot find anyone round here to restore two Minton floors. I found the leaflet from the Victorian society useful, also the website of, I think its called Original Tiles in north London has some advice, also the museum in Longton. Don't buy the stuff from Original Tiles though (HG remover, and HG sealer etc). Its much cheaper from shops in Stoke and I did clean some of my tiles with their system, but had to hire a industrial washing machine and used HG Remover to get the worst of dirt off before sealing, and then putting on final coat of HG final coat. HG do a whole system for cleaning tiles (but maybe purists wont approve). Did yo ever contact the Ross Weston in Birmingham? PS Whilst writing - Do you know of any good builders who appreciate Victorian houses in Stoke?!
Barbara you are not alone, we are nearby in Newcastle u lyme with a minton floor that is not at its best. staffordshire flooring in burslem told me ages ago of a firm called Ortech ??? Autech? or some other spelling I haven't been able to trace them. Probably easier if I just phone staffs flooring again. good luck
I've posted a response to the Minton Tile Floor thread but it doesn't appear to have attached. For the Potteries dwellers, Diamond Tile Co, Cobridge , stoke on trent, restore Minton tile floors 'to a point
i.e. clean and seal (they can't get the tiles to match/repair patches). Booked up until after New Year
