I'm just about to spark up a solid fuel burning Rayburn in the house we just moved into. Wondering if anyone has tips on use. Not cooking on it tips but operation tips mainly? Also, what fuels are best?
If you use coal, use anthracite (or other smokeless) not house coal. You will have a kitchen full of thick brown smoke when you open the door if you use house coal! http://www.rayburn-web.co.uk/raytech/fuels.htm
Thanks for that advice. Actually it's multi fuel and burns wood too. I have now lit it and found that there are all the advantages of heat and homeliness about it. However, this form of heating and cooking needs alot of attention and having now downloaded the instructions, using it is an artform!
