Hi all,
Back in september I asked for advice about cleaning up a cornice.
Following much mess, sweat and a 3 month pause waiting for a broken wrist* to repair itself, it's time to get the distemper on.
In the end I used klingstrip to remove the emulsion layers and then warm water, a tooth brush and a number of chop-sticks cut at various angles for the distemper.
On posts from other cornice-cleaners I've noticed that some have used 'modern' products to seal the plaster before distempering. I did use a fair amount of water to soften the old distemper and am a bit worried about that staining the new distemper.
Can anyone recommend a product to seal the plaster?
Once I've finished the distemper I will of course post before, during and after pics.
Thanks for any advice, Stuart.
