Does anybody know what the original floor would have been in a 1936 Semi? Would it have been tiled?

I'd have thought more likely to be lino (or parquet if it was a bit more upmarket)

My Grandma's was a 1930 semi and it had a tiled floor - red white and black mosaicy type tiles very similar to victorian ones, as well as wood panelling, and a plate rack around the top.

All sorts: composition, tiled or parquet.

There isn't one type of flooring in use now, and wasn't then. Most of the flooring materials we have now were in use then.

I had an aunt lived in one, and the ground floor was cement coated with what, in hindsight, must either been lots of Cardinal polish or red paint. Linoleum was laid over the top and rugs and runners on top of that.
