PPUK Party

Venue: Here (South Lincs, just off A1)

Time: 2.30 pm - Monday lunch

Why?: Fun (and Chris is leaving me for 5 days for a stag party!)

Accomodation: First come first served - 3 "bedrooms" available, plenty of places to pitch tent, local hotels and B&Bs quite reasonable.

Who's invited? Everyone on PPUK, no-one else. Partners and kids of course welcome. BC swallows quite a number of people.

Food Please bring stuff to BBQ

Costume Period, of course.

I intend to book myself in for a weekend at the best b&b in *******m (aka the in-laws' place) which is, I believe, just up the road from you.





If they're unavailable, and in case anyone else is too late to grab one of your rooms and shares my aversion to camping, there's an excellent Travelodge a stonesthrow away.

That's a super idea and I really hope I won't be able to come :lol: I am booked on a flight to Singapore on August 10th, and currently resisting any thoughts of changing that. As you know from the other place it has been a less than satisfactory week but I am planning strategies so I can go whether issues are resolved or not. If I was around I would put on the partaay dress of course.

Lady A - dreadful not to have you but I do of course want your plans to prosper, so hope everything gets finished off for you to be able to go back home again.

I really mean a Sunday BBQ that extends through the afternoon/ evening/night, with people coming when it suits them. I've deliberately picked the Bank Hol- it may be that BC is on the way back home after a weekend away, or even that you might like to think of a Bank Hol plan that includes a little jaunt or stopover somewhere on the way from your house to mine, and then this party to finish the weekend off.

No-one should feel obligated to stay the night, but if people come here and go back home in a day it might be a very tiring, and, (even worse) alcohol-free, day. For quite a lot of people the distance involved would make here and back in a day impossible.

How very lovely it would be to all have a chance to meet up!

2 weeks in a tent with the kids .... camping in deepest darkest Norfolk.

How very convenient.

We live in Norfolk, have family connections only a stone's throw from Joce, and I can assure you that a day-trip is an absolute doddle.
The route that I prefer is via Cambridge and straight up the A1. Dual carriageway all the way (unlike going via Kings Lynn, which may look straighter on the map but involves endless miles stuck behind caravans and tractors with ne'er a place to overtake).

I'm sure you could be spared for one day out of the fortnight.

It's a nice thought Moo, but we'll be packing up to come home either that day or the Monday. Not very fair of me to abandon Mrs F with the 3 kids on the campsite with no transport, and I wouldn't want to give the kids a long car journey on the Sunday when they will face a long journey home the next day.

If they were older it would be different, but at 6 months, 4 years and 6 years respectively the logistics of long journeys are complicated!

There are plenty of PPUKers to visit in Norfolk if you feel the urge for a change of scene during your two weeks here.
