PPUK Gathering

I just wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to Flyfisher and family for their hospitality in hosting us at their house today. It was genuinely lovely to put faces to names and see first hand someone elses house.

Wonderful hosts and a lovely house. I look forward to the next gathering.

I very nearly made it, but yesterday morning had to make trip to the Doctors.
Suspected chicken pox/shingles as my Sister in laws boyfriend came to our last two BBQ's and then promptly told us he'd gone down with chicken pox.
I came up with a few large spots on my neck, very sore and itchy.
Doc thinks it's most likely a bite or sting that has got infected, so I have a course of antibiotics and some cream. If more spots came along today it would be back to Docs in morning, but it looks like he was right, as it's still quite swollen and itchy but the patch about 2" in diameter now is the only one.
It's just made wearing anything round my neck and turning to see where I would be driving very painful.

Flyfisher is a great guy, yet to meet his even better half, the house looked fantastic in the pictures, so bet it is truly amazing in real life.

So sad not too have met you all, but there is always next summer, when I shouldn't be so busy as my bedroom and kitchen should be finished!!!!

You were missed, Graham. And you have my sympathy regarding your awful ailment, because you missed a really great day. As Pford says, it was wonderful to put faces to names and have a chance to explore a truly amazing 'work in progress'.
Fly and his family (and dog, of course) were super hosts, and their ears must have been burning when we all left, thinking grateful thoughts about them.
What lovely people PPUK folk are!

Well, When I get my kitchen eventually finished, it's only been going on since Feb 1st 2006, I'll have a grand kitchen opening party....... It'll make a change to cook on the rayburn again after spending so long with a combined micro/grill/oven machine and bbq!!!!!!!

A great day at the FF's and - as Pford75 said (incidentally, he doesn't look 75) - it was good to put some faces to names.

Considering the Herculean renovation they have on their hands, I think it was very courageous of Mr & Mrs FF to invite us all (without evenspecifying that overalls would be the required mode of attire).

I know that in E Anglia one is positively tripping over fascinating old houses that act like a magnet to PP obsessives, so there is quite a tribe of PPUK people in the area. But I'm willing to bet there are similar clusters around the country, who would get just as much pleasure from a gathering*. It only takes two or three to start with, and then it sort of grows ...

the wonders of a computer controlled security system, can see who's coming when they enter our driveway, stopped several dog walkers from fouling our drive, suprises them when you ask what they want when they're standing in the middle of nowhere!!!

I resent that. Indiscriminate trumbling may be acceptable in Italy, but we British never trumble between the hours of 7.00am and 9.00pm.

I would have been quite happy to detach myself from the crowds to do my trumbling around FF fishing lakes Mr P, there was no way I could have missed seeing Moo's bad back with walking stick going up the attic stairs :wink:
