Well, on this new format anyhow. I suspect it's about two million if I counted the old one.

I really must get out more.

Does anyone really see the point however of counting how many posts anyone has made?

If so, can they enlighten me?

It was Tony on another thread who raised the issue.
It does seem to be the Silly Season on PPUK. I blame the weather, all cooped up with no lime pointing to get on with.

I've never been able to understand why posts are counted.
Perhaps it is because they can be counted (!) or that a decade or so ago the net was populated by younger people who needed the self-aggrandizement.

Looking through various other forums it is noticable that the least interesting are often populated by seeming illiterates masking their inferiority by calling themselves some super hero of one sort or another.
Having a number next to their name showing the number of times they have thought of something/anything to say probably is a mark of accomplishment to them.

Many websites are restricted in size so the figure varies depending on how many old posts have been deleted.
Looking through the membership list for high numbers of posts does give an indication of that person's contribution to the forum.

Or perhaps it is to give lurkers some idea of who's who.

But Gervase - I get plastered too, I didn't think it was an either/or!

I confess to reading other forums occasionally, I am so glad this one doesn't allow the graphics which some sites do.

At times it's hard to read what's being said as there is so much winking, blinking, and generally annoying graphic crud abounding.
