But I'm surprised that we seem to be the only forumites who like big-band jazz.
On the other hand, perhaps they've all been signing up in droves, but don't want to admit it?

I've signed it because I love all types of live music. We saw Jool Holland's big band in Thetford Forest a few years ago and it was wonderful, but with so many musicians on stage it's not hard to see why such bands are an expensive undertaking. Charlie Watts is a big band fan and I'm sure I remember him being quoted as saying that drumming for the Rolling Stones was just his 'day job' to help fund his own big band, which he toured extensively in the 80s and 90s.

You could say the same about symphony orchestras, couldn't you, but the BBC evidently think they're worth keeping.
But they've got to find the money for all those severance payments to their top execs, haven't they?

Embarrassingly, being a huge jazz fan and having ample opportunity to see the big band play at Birmingham's symphony hall, I never got around to it. Shame on me. I shall have to rectify that tout suite. Signed the petition, thanks for alerting the forum!!!
