Plaster Round Window 1820s Stone Cottage Advice Required

Hi all, I am new to this forum.

I have moved into a 1820s stone cottage, the room had boarding on all walls. Once I had removed it, round the window I noticed an exceptionally large gap on the right-hand side, there is also a massive gap at the top of the window.
Does anyone know how to deal with such a large hole? I need to plaster some of the walls as they have large holes due to wooden batons that were attached. I will be using NHL and sand for the plaster. Really not sure what to do with this massive hole? Can anyone offer any advice please? The photo’s show different angles and the largeness of the hole.

Here's a few options that come to mind:-

Get a pointing trowel with an inch wide blade and just keep shoving a lime morter mix in daily until the hole is full.

Cheat and get a good quality expanding foam and fill the hole up in 20 seconds, I felt so dirty saying that.

Don’t tell anyone but I installed all 13 of my nice shiny new hardwood frame double glazing into my rubble stone walls using Soudafoam door and window then pointed in the last half inch with lime mortar

What else are you after?

Being blunt your routes are either the traditional pack the gap with lime mortar and bits of stone / brick etc to put some solid mass in there and minimise the effects of mortar shrinkage, or use a modern foam.

Unless you take the nuclear option of taking the window out, removing all the plaster and damaged stone, re-building the opening to the correct dimensions and then re-fitting the window?

I’ll admit, like the others who commented I’ve used a touch of spray foam in certain situations like that and just faced the front with lime plaster to match the surroundings. However I’ve also packed gaps like that with clay-slurry coated sheepswool. Thoroughly coat all the fibers of the fleece with thick wet gooey clay. Then firmly pack it into the void, leaving the surface of the clay wool receded deeper from the finished surface of the wall. Let it dry for a few days until it’s gone almost rock hard. Then plaster over the clay wool surface to bring it flush to the rest of the wall.

Hmmm, or you could you cut little sections of lath, put a blob of grab adhesive on either side, angle the piece of path through the hole, then turn it into position once it’s behind the wall and pull it back towards you against the backside surface of the wall and the window frame so the blobs of adhesive grab. Then wait to dry a couple hours and do the next piece of lath.
