Hello All,
Happy Jubilee.
I'm not sure of the correct name, but I am posting about those plaster designs that are on the ceiling: Ceiling roses, those plaster designs that resemble icing on cakes that would be found in a georgian home.
I would like to make the case to council (consent) to re-instate them, at least for my two front rooms. Does anyone have any experience with:
1. What designs are in keeping with Georgian times? A resource? (besides knocking on all of my neighbours doors and asking "may I see your ceiling?")
2. I know that there must be a zillion different designs which makes an estimate of pricing difficult, but any ball park ways to estimate?
3. I have the original cornice, so I suppose it should somehow be in keeping.
Lastly: Has anyone painted the cornice/designs with a touch of silver or gold colour paint? I saw it on the Sarah Beeny Restoration show. Curious.
Thanks!
