Trying to finish off a few indoor projects before starting the outside work with some good weather hopefully on the way... We have some old pine doors on the top floor of the house that we had stripped a few years ago. They have come up quite well but there are traces of woodworm in a couple of them. I was planning on not repainting but interested to know how best to finish them.
With a good sand and clean the door shown below (before I started) has come up quite well. There are a few splits and knocks but it's all character. I have some Polyvine wax finish varnish kicking around that I could use as a finish. I wondered if anyone has any experience with this or could recommend a more suitable alternative? I
The iron hinges and catches will need some sort of finish now the old paint has been removed with a wire brush. I had wondered whether a blackening paste similar to one used on a cast iron stove is suitable?
Thank you for any suggestions.
