I had to laugh at the VIZ Top Tip in the Sunday Times this weekend.

"Cooks: running out of potatoes? Simply substitute with Shreaded Wheat for a delicious 'Thatched Cottage Pie"

No wonder I gave up buying newspapers decades ago.

The Viz Top Tip has been a feature of the Sunday Times motoring supplement for years. It always contains valuable and sage advice, such as:

Don't waste money buying expensive binoculars. Simply stand closer to the object you wish to view.

Don't waste money on an expensive gravel drive. Get that feeling of luxury by superglueing rice crispies to your tyres.

On the train,keep the seat next to you vacant by smiling and nodding at people as they walk up the aisle.

A Victoria Beckham - that's an interesting unit of mass. Although, given its inherent vacuousness, it probably weighs less than it appears to.
