On a lighter note for a Friday, this appeared in the Sunday Times last weekend. Made me chuckle but I'm not showing Mrs. T :wink: .

Speaking as a man who has just this minute almost finished three separate jobs (got the bits - dug the holes) that were suspended in 1993 I don't understand the point of this post.

Three years ago this November, "Himself" took the Swiss Chalet stone fireplace out and removed the plaster from the chimney breast so we could have a log burner fitted and we would have heat for Christmas. I was promised that we would start on the rest of the room in January, admittedly he didn't state which January. I was so fed up of looking at our feature wall that I waited until he went away for the weekend, took the carpet up and took it to the tip, just to force him into action. It worked we are now removing the cement and plaster from the other walls.

Honestly, not really. His Lordship doesn't "do" fixing. His assigned tasks tend to be administrative in nature and driven by external factors which mean he cannot defer them for as long as he wants. To be fair I should confess that one of his 3 requests when we did the renovation was for a nice chair or two...... and he is still waiting. I finally identified what we should get last February, but the vintage examples I found were not in good enough condition, so we await my next trip when I can hopefully order ahead a new pair.

Women should be decorative and beautiful, filling the house with flowers and being brought tea in bed whilst wearing diaphanous peach silk robes and silk slippers with fluffy pompoms. Men should be active and vigorous and unafraid of difficulty and danger, during which trials of strength women are indispensable with the delicious treats they prepare sparkling and intelligent conversation they provide. Nobody should have to get their hands dirty if they don't like it, that's what tradespeople are for.

Oh, it's a lovely fantasy - the problem with it being that the house remains in stasis!

When the sun is splitting the trees park your car up in a service station car park , roll up all the windows, leave the engine running and turn up the heater blower full, now you can pretend that you to have aircon like all the rich people in their big posh cars.

Another tip,
