Don't worry Penners, you're not alone. We still have wind-up TV, no phone signal (let alone 3G or 4G) and broadband currently offering a download speed of 0.39Mbps. Sods Law says that we will be one of the 40,000 having no Freeview whatsover, and therefore being offered free Sky or cable connection. Nowhere to put a dish on our listed 1640 house and no cable for miles. Oh well, I'll just have to pretend that I'm the original inhabitant of our house :roll: .

Thanks Toby but my post was simply a public service announcement. I'm all right, Jack - we have Freesat, so won't be affected. It's also virtually guaranteed that 4G won't be available out here in the wilds of Suffolk until Tony Blair says sorry for the Iraq war.

Surely you mean that you sat quietly and listened to Mrs P talk to you? His lordship tells me that boys are allocated fewer words per day and must use them very sparingly.

You're right Yer Ladyship, but I have a cunning method of conserving my allocation of words. Mrs P natters away and I just sit there making noises: "mmmm... aha...... ah..... oh...." (my mind is, of course, weighing up England's chances in the next Six Nations match). That way I appear to be participating in the conversation, but without undue wastage of words.
