It's a pity, I doubt that will be rebuilt. I wonder if the water came up through the floor and pushed the front off.

A lot of the buildings in the videos of flooding seem to be old ones. My insurers were sniffy about flood risk at the last renewal. The flood prediction maps suggest mine and all of the sites around here that had buildings on 200 years ago should be low risk. All of the buildings constructed on new sites since 1970 seem to he at high risk of flooding.

It was part of a former cotton mill, built across the river. Had only been a pub for a few years and apparently was currently the subject of an application to convert into flats.

Thankyou for that. I had looked at Streetview but couldn't make out whether it was a road or a river. Guess the flats might not happen now, what with the damp issues n'all.

My sons student accommodation costing over 81 million to build and only just completed this summer is beside the River Irwell and over looks Peel park a well documented flood plain! The floods have now risen as far as the accomodation and into the underground carpark!
I'm sure they must have known that this was going to happen :roll:
