Period planning permission?

If you had a neighbour running an industrial unit/buisness from a farm/agricultural premises and as a result the noise was getting to be a nuisance who would you contact?
Its not me , a friend of mine lives next door to a couple of agricultural barns and the owner has turned them into indistrial units without change of use permission.

Environmental health. Statutory nuisance needs to be proved, also possible to take your own action, under a certain section of legislation. http://www.environmental-protection.org.uk/noise/neighbourhood-noise/nuisance/

Also the planning dept to see if a change of use was needed and not granted.

My mother has a similar problem with her neighbour,(who owns a small holding) but hers include helicopters !! the noise and the fumes are unbearable.
she has had several meetings with environmental health, local council, and her local MP but to be honest no one cares.They have limited the amount of times he can take off and land the helicopter but its still a nightmare.

Ummm, I thought "angry birds" had a way of dealing decisively with antisocial pigs, even ones in helicopters!

I agree about calling environmental health and/or planning to check things out, but I wouldn't automatically assume rules and regulations are being broken.

Farms can be noisy places (grain drying fans running 24/7 at harvest time for example) and if the buildings have been sub-let to an agricultural business their use may be legitimate. Worth checking though.

The buildings are being used for industrial buisness, there is no agricultural work going on what so ever.
Is it possible to check online?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with farm buildings to " diversify" into light industrial, storage, manufacturing etc.. with the blessing of the relevant council. AS LONG AS PLANNING FOR THE PURPOSE WAS SOUGHT AND APPROVED.

I totally agree Middi, it's better than a building being left empty and unused.
