Just watching Waking the Dead on "Drama", several police officers turn up to arrest a developer for knocking down a wall in a grade 2* building!!!!!!!!

Missed the first part, only turned on when they were arresting him. Apparently there were dead bodies in the cavity wall, which is what he wanted to question him on, but arrested him for the LBC offence!!

Can you get retrospective permission for the bodies in the cavity wall? I'm sure you can. You could with our council. "Let me see what I can do to help you, sonny, with those bodies. Round the back , are they? That'll be alright then. We'll tuck them below the Sky dish. Have to help people make their old houses liveable in."

Character of the building is one thing, characters in the building is quite another.
Perhaps it's just an extreme form of apotropaism. I've heard rumours of similar things when pouring concrete on large construction sites, presumably to help ward off evil spirits. :wink:
