Period Iron Floor Grate / Grid for Cellar Light well

Another week, another question - sorry!

This time we are outside.

To cut a long story short; we've dug out the original light well for the cellar windows, however, the light well is below our front door.

We are after a grate/grille/grid of some description that allows light through the cellar windows, yet is capable to walk on.

The closest thing I have found to what I am after is this:

Ideally though, I'd prefer something old.

I've been to local reclamation yards and have searched on eBay (using the words "grille, grid & grate/grating"), to no avail. The reclamation yard says that people are just weighing them in!

The size of the aperture is 1200mm x 750mm or 4' x 2' 6" in old money.

I'll consider having 2 "grates" side by side if they match.

Can anyone give me any pointer please?

I'd have thought there would be plenty of people willing and able to manufacture something suitable from your own design.

A quick Google threw up this company or these guys but there are bound to be some closer to you.

Tried another (larger) reclamation yard today, but no luck again.

I think I'm going to try a local blacksmith in the meantime.

A side thought on this:
Laying a grill on top of glass is easy....but traps all the dirt and would be difficult to clean unless the rills were hinged to allow access to the glass.

Glass is available that is tough enough to walk on (don't know how expensive it is though) which could render the grill purely decorative (even allowing it to be fitted under , rather than over, the glass where there is far less dirt.
