Not the place for this but i thought id give you guys a laugh. Got a teddy bear from my mum for our baby but i couldn't find an age group on it. The label says fur will inevitably fall off the bear and could cause choking. Its got button eyes so its dubious whether or not it can be given to a baby.
So i called the supplier printed on the label.
The phone picked up on the other side and someone shouted 'whose that'? at me. I didn't know what to say so i said hello, Whose that? was the answer so i gave my name.
After some confusion I asked if their bear could be given to a baby and he said yeah sure they are from birth. ''Are you sure'' i said ,''bits are falling off it'' as i pulled bits of fur off it between my finger and thumb ''and its got button eyes with pins in the back'' , ''yea'' he said , ''im sure''.
so , and this is the funny bit, i asked what safety standard EN71 printed on the label means thinking i could get an age group suitability from that , ''it means its safe to give to kids'' was the answer, ''do you actually know what it means'' i asked? ''Hang on'' , then he started reeling off a load of jargon to me. ''Does it state age group suitability''? i asked , ''No'' has said , ''But if you go on to wikipedia and type EN71 into it you can read it for your self''.
I still dont know if its suitable for a baby , i can now only assume it isn't. It must be very easy these days to get toys through safety standards and sell them to baby's.
