Period development for the community?

They put a large estate on the outskirts of our village , you know the type, fake period type lego houses, no parking , roads two small for anything but the smallest of cars, tiny gardens, people living ontop of eachother etc etc.
However they were told by the council that they needed to set a building aside for the community, it was decided to put a couple of retail units there.

We went to look at this building today with a view to operating a business from it.

Retail? It looks like a large house from the outside , inside however was a very different story. The building was to be seperated into two different ''retail'' units. Not so , inside was an empty shell spanning the whole building, no plaster on the walls , just bare breeze blocks, no water , no central heating , no doors , walls , floors or ceilings, no electricity, no insulating, you could see right up to the apex of the roof from inside.

I said to the estate agent how do they suppose anyone would rent this off them? The gist I got was they are playing a waiting game with the council as they want to sell it off as housing and not as retail units.

Are the council really that stupid?

Look up the planning conditions and phone your local councillor, telling him/her you are interested in the unit, but only if it meets minimum standards for letting as a retail unit.

Our market town has a small estate just on the edge-- the propertys look exactly like psuedo georgian to blend in with our main street scene--- inside they are offices, call centres and the like so I am told.
