Oh dear. I prefer the timescale of the ancient Egyptians - 3000 years for one temple.

My friend lives in Hong Kong ( in a weeny apartment with a live in maid - normal for there - but I'd hate the lack of privacy). He's a engineer for a company who build skyscrapers. When I tell him Beacon Cottage is going to take me 20 years, he looks at me with disbelief.

It's so much quicker to build new than to get old into some semblance of order!

I wonder how long it will take to demolish when it come to the end of its service life (30-40 years perhaps?).
