Some old rows of terraces don't have any dividing walls in the attics at all, they are open from end to end.

When I worked for "a leading retailer", one of the shop staff lived in such a terrace and was arrested for drilling a hole and putting a miniature camera through the ceiling of his neighbour's teenage daughter's bedroom. He wasn't a very clever pervert - his victim realised someting was wrong straight away when she found the plaster dust on her bed, and looked up.

Anyway, the point of this story is that the retailer in question had just shot a load of press ads, which at the time always featured store staff - including this particular man holding, yes you guessed right, a cordless drill. We had a mad scramble to get a revised ad in before the printing deadline.

Mind you, that was sloppy reporting in Milady's link. They didn't even give the age of the girlfriend, or her vital statistics.

To me, the really surprising thing in this post is that anyone in Norfolk would read the Daily Record!

I can explain that. Someone mentioned that story in passing yesterday and asked if I'd also seen it, which I hadn't (it not being on the BBC News website or R4). Milady's story reminded me of it, so I searched for a link and that's the first one I found. It seems to be an, er, interesting world out there beyond the confines of dear old Aunty. I should, perhaps, venture out there more often - though Private Eye seems to adequately fill in a lot of the gaps.
