A warning to all our well owning members! Happily the fact that it is reported in the Grantham Journal is of no significance at all, and the woman concerned was not chasing an errant chicken when it happened.

No, not me, and although I love my birds to distraction even I wouldn't climb down the well to get them water. That woman was crazy. If she'd concussed herself as she fell, the story might have had a different ending.

There are some, stupid, risks you just don't take. Chris screams at me just for opening the lid and peering down.

Hope they make themselves a longer ladder though, or attach the pump to a chain so they can haul it up from the top.

Falling into a well is easily done ( especially if one is P*$$ed )

Apparently ( according to my grandmother) my grandfather was walking back from a nearby town where he was invited to play the accordion a their local fiesta, he had a few drinks and ( tried) to make his way home across country in the dark an fell into a shallow well in a few feet of water.
My father and uncle went looking for him in the morning and found him quite easily, he was still half P^$$ed playing the accordion at the bottom of the well.

That is perfect Italian Mr P., as opposed to my granfathers tune, I think it was sheer desperation to get noticed ( amongst " soffiando bolle"
