paving ideas for edwardian front garden

Hi all, this is my first time posting here. I hope someone can give me some advice. I have an Edwardian terrace (1902) that is in need of a front garden makeover. I have done the garden bit - beautiful box hedge parterre and I am now onto the walls/railings and path. There is a footpath straight to the front door (no drive). I want the path to be in keeping with Victorian/Edwardian design but cant find many ideas on the internet. I live in a small market town so i dont know if it would look right for my house to have encaustic tiles ( black and white pattern) or if quarry tiles would be better. This is where I am really stuck! Another issue is the window woodwork colour. We have beautiful sash windows to the front painted black on the outer bits and pale cream on inner should I keep them this colour or go for just off white. I am opting for low wall and Heritage cast iron railings and gate. If anyone can offer some advice on paving and window colour I would really appreciate it . Thanks

Your house sounds really nice.

For your path, are there any other houses nearby with their original front paths for you to see?

The 2 options that you mention both sound valid-

Reclaimed quarry tiles - available quite readily from most reclamation yards

Encaustic tiles - like the link below - really up to you as to if these are too grand or not.

The other option I'd consider, which is a favourite of mine and is used on many of the terraces near me (but this may be a regional thing), is textured staffordshire blue paving bricks like these:-

Which are sometimes edged with rope-top edging, either in a matching colour or in terracota:-

As for windows - personal taste I'd say. The more traditional style does seem to have the box frame one colour and the sliding sashes another, I do think it looks nice. We ended up painting ours all one colour as we thought it may look better doing that on the bay we have - having a darker frame would mean a lot of exposed dark painted surface.

I presume your house isn't listed by the way, if it is you'll need consent to change paint colours I believe.
