Hello again. I have yet another question. The ground at the back of my modest Edwardian terraced house is clay with blue brick pavers on top. Because of the house settling the ground slopes towards the house and because the soil does not drain well water pools by the house. I hoped to solve this by making the ground slope away from the house but actually this doesn't work as water just pools wherever it is lowest. I have 1 combined gulley right by the house and it seems obvious now that I need to make the water run towards this gulley and drain the surface water that way. The gulley takes both rain and foul water so water from the patio/pavers should be ok to go down there. Unfortunately the top of the gulley is around the same height as 2 bricks below dpc so it would be good if it was lower. I am desperate to make sure that water does not sit against the wall of the house or pool making the ground around the house any wetter than it is already. Has anyone got any experience or advice about directing surface water down a gulley right next to a building, preferably while keeping the blue pavers??? Would it be ok to make a subtle channel with the pavers that direct s the water towards the drain??? Any advice would be gratefully received.
