We moved into our hovel (1550 - 1600 timber framed ex farmhouse) last October and we have just got planning permission and listed building consent for all the building works that we want to do. Before we start causing major disruption, we are inviting neighbours, friends, workmen, anyone else who is interested to an 'at home'.

We are just outside St Neots and on Sunday 29th March 3pm - 6pm you are invited to look around the house and garden, inspect the plans and join us for drinks and nibbles in the house. If anyone from the Period Property forum wants to come along then send me a message

It's a great idea. I thought that if I was still in my old house just up the road in Brampton then I would certainly come. However, of course, moving from there after 16 years is WHY I now have a period property so perhaps the logic fails! Have a good time.

Thank you Anna - tbh it was a happy release as she had been suffering from Alzheimer's for a few years and never recovered from the loss of my dad last May

Good to see you on Sunday Anna, and it was good to chat with some of the masses that descended on the cottage. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress. The place already looks so much bigger with the undergrowth removed.

A pre-works party is good idea. I think my approach will be to deliver a bottle of wine to the neighbours on Wednesday when I mention the scaffolding going up early Thursday. :shock:
