Painting Flagged floor

Phew my 3rd post in a day!
I'm thinking about painting the flag stones in my bathroom (individually so they can breath through the cracks). My partner loves them in all the other rooms but thinks they make the bathroom seem grim/dirty.
Any ideasd on a paint that would work.

It is a shame that you want to paint them, flagstones look at their best when left in their natural state and wax based clear sealer them if you have to, it can be easily re-applied as and when required.

Point taken about the paint. We really like the flags in all the other rooms, God knows it took long enough to rescue them. However my partner doesn't think they are very bathroomy and wants something cleaner looking.
I'm not keen on lino not least cos it will be very uneven. We've tried the rug thing but the room is a very odd shape and small so you end up with a mish mash. I guess I'm just a fussy begger.
