Paint advice: new timber sashes

I'd be grateful if someone could help me; I have read through recent posts on timber sashes which have referred to Holkham paints but I don't think these are suitable for my windows as the windows have been coated in a preservative. (This was how they arrived from the joiner). Are there any alternatives anyone can recommend? Would Farrow & Ball Eco External Eggshell be appropriate?

I'd still use Allback's real linseed oil paint as supplied by Holkham paints. What's to lose by using the best?

My vinery timber arrived pretreated (against instruction) and I went around the houses on that one before we determined that we could still use their paint...if we could actually buy some. My schedule meant that I wasn't able to get hold of any - their listed local supplier hadn't dealt with them in 2 years and they were closed for Christmas.

Beckers also do a true linseed paint, but I wasn't able to get enough in time so I ended up using a linseed based paint called Beckers oljefarg (oil paint). It has given a very nice finish and my decorator has been happy enough working with it. Drying times are faster than Holkham's but much slower than plastic based gloss. It's made in Sweden where it's used to protect wooden houses in harsher climates so I'm hopeful but only the test of time will tell. There's a thread on here about it somewhere if you are interested it'll show up in a search around December 2008.
