Oxalic Acid for Black Marks on Pine flooring

Hi, I have read that Oxalic Acid gets rid of black marks on old pine flooring caused by nails.

Before I try it just wanted to find out if any of you folks had ever used it and if so did it work?

It does get rid of black marks from iron. I've used it on an old pine scrub top table, and it gets rid of the marks well. It also lightens the wood a bit.

Ah OK thanks. Yes I think its the iron from the nails which has made the surrounding wood go black!

How long did you have to leave it on for?

Bought an old reclaimed pine floor - reclaimed not for the faint hearted! You never know what you'll find but its lovely except these black marks everywhere!!

I can't remember, just a few minutes though, not long. There will be instructions on whatever container you buy it in. It needs to be washed off with water as it is a bit poisonous, although it is found in low concentrations in many foods!
