Here are a couple of photos or our house. Paul bought and renovated one side of the house over 20 years ago, the other side, with the lower roof we bought 2 years ago and have knocked through to make it back into one property, lots of work to be done but here are a couple of photos of the room through the patio doors. The stairs are virtually in the middle of the room, and it has a rather large fake beam made out of an RSJ, both of which will have to go. Although the green wallpaper wasn't to our taste I suppose you could say it was alot more habitable than it is now. We took the small fire place out to discover a large opening. We knocked the cupboard out to make the doorway to the half of the house in which we were living. Afraid the photos are in the wrong order but I haven't sussed out how to move them around

The carpet certainly isn't my taste but there's no point in putting a new one in here yet. Beams are a right mixture of new wood, RSJ, and original wood worm treated. Not very pleasant to look at.

2006 - Rain comes straight down the chimney as there is currently no cowl on it, no wonder the entire chimney brick work was so damp.

Sept 2005 - We certainly had fun knocking though the cupboard, we had to go through two horizontal chimney flues, years of muck, horse hair and a disgusting smell of damp.

March 2005 - Somebody certainly liked paint effects - have you noticed the radiator.

March 2005 -The hedge down the middle was one of the first things to go.

If I didn't know better, I would swear your house was decorated by the woman who owned our last house before we bought it! That radiator looks very familiar. When she showed us around, she proudly showed us the sitting room that had been rag-rolled to within an inch of its life and informed us "it took me a whole day to do one wall". I said how lovely it was while thinking "and it will take me about half an hour to paint over it".

Nice carpet too. We removed our giant-rose-patterned carpets and burned them the day we moved in! Not very practical but I couldn't stand looking at them.

Thanks for the pictures Jill. The outside shot shows an interesting difference in windows too. It'll be great when it's all done :wink:

Its not only the windows that are different - theres also the roof heights, shapes, gable ends and brick work to the rear as can be shown below together with another photo of the awful radiator - there were two of them and I believe it was done by a decorator!

The porch isn't in keeping but its handy at the moment for the recycling boxes.

When Paul did the renovation on the first side in 1984 he wanted to keep sash windows but wasn't allowed, hence the georgian style. These weren't the roof tiles he wanted either. The fence between us and the neighbour has since gone and a wall is currently being built (Nobody has found us a blue pier cap yet - did get a mesage from someone whos been in the business 20 years and they have never come across any - guess none were ever made!) Removing the canopy from above the window is on the to do list very soon.

Why? At least its gone now!

EEE-yooooo.... that made my teeth ache! I'm still deciding what to do with my modern radiators...but not that!

Oh come on!
The radiator tones in so well with the other decorations so much so you'd probably not notice it after a few beers/millenia.
The pipes are painted the same and the little draincock too, how sweet!
All it wants is a few bows tied on it and you can give it to the previous owners as a Christmas present.

Do you know which asylum they were taken to?
