I can hear at least one tile falling off the roof every 30 mins our so! Such a helpless feeling! I have a good stock of original replacements thankfully so I suspect I'll be perfecting the art of roof scrambling come the spring! Anyone else taking a buffeting?

sorry to hear about your roof tiles, it's good you have some more to replace them. We took a battering too. Over two pints of water came down the chimney and rain was driven through the lintel above the window line. The house front is rendered in lime so I guess it can only take so much and we have certainly had our fill with more to come!

The house is fine, but the van stalled today in a big puddle. I had to get out and try to push it, but then I got back in because I thought I saw a crocodile. Spent two and a half hours in that puddle, had to get rescued and towed to the mechanic.

Very wise, you can't be too careful when it comes to crocodiles, they are easily mistaken for a harmless log and by the time you realise it's too late. Watch out for hippos too, they can also be mean. Hope the van is an easy fix.

I heard on the news that an actual, real crocodile had been seen in the flood waters in Somerset. I wonder where it was living before the floods? There's not a lot to do on the Levels at the moment so drinking a lot of alcohol is a good option. Oh look there's a pink flamingo cruising past Glastonbury.

Oh no, I'm afraid to open the woodshed door now.

Never fear, arm yourself with a broom and a stout rope with a loop at the end tied in an an adjustable noose type knot. Open the door to the woodshed. Poke the wood with the broom. If a crocodile emerges smack it lightly on top of the snout with the broom. This should cause a reflex reaction of it to snap it's jaws shut. When the mouth is briefly closed slip the loop of the rope over the snout and pull tight. They have very strong muscles to shut the jaw on an unsuspecting ungulates hind quarters, but very weak ones to open it. So once they are jaw roped they cant bite, although stay away from the tail as that can give you a nasty smack. All you need then is someone who can turn the croc into an exotic skin toolbag. Mr Family Wiggs would probably like a few tasty crocodile steaks too, he seems to eat just about anything.
