OT - tea...

Does anyone else have afternoons like this?
Right, let's have a cup of tea (puts kettle on).Now, what was I doing? Right, fixing the bedroom floor. Where's the saw?.. OK, that one goes there... (hammering, etc)..Ooh, didn't make the tea! (puts kettle on again). Right, where's the hammer?.. (ten minutes searching for hammer). Hmm, so how much sheepswool am I going to need? (measuring, thinking etc). Ooh, didn't make the tea! (puts kettle on, puts teabag in cup). What was I doing? Oh yes. Where's the hammer?..... Where's the hammer.... WHERE'S THE HAMMER?! Hmm, wonder if anyone's replied to my post on Period Property? (spends half an hour on the internet). Ooh, didn't make the tea! (pours water on teabag, forgets about it). Right, where did that one go that I marked up..... (fixes one more board). Ooh someone has replied to my post on Period Property (another half an hour on the internet)..... Right, where's the hammer?.......
How long is it going to be before I get around to actually making the tea?

You've just described a typical day here! There are bursts of hard work - and always distractions of 22 needy pets, egg customers, and an even more needy Chris issuing his lists of errands. I do have to be motivated by pretty things to do all the boring stuff.

We ordered the wallpaper two days ago which has taken a year to save up for so I'm finally motivated to do the floor. ( too risky to do the floor after the wallpaper.) However, do far today I've only managed to sand 4 boards. :roll:

I find that my most effective time to actually get something done is when I'm supposed to be doing something else and I wander off on a tangent. Thinking about or planning doing something puts me off, but when it is a distraction from another task, I concentrate much better.
Having finally drunk one cup of cold, brewed tea, I won't try to make another. Perhaps I should see if I do better with the wine.

Poor Zebra, you've your priorities all wrong.

A typical day here would be: make a cup of tea and some toast and think about the plan of action for the day. Right, I'll finish some tiling. Go outside to the shed for the tools. Notice the grass is a bit long, better mow it. Get the mower out, no petrol! Go to village garage for petrol. Fill mower and now ready to start - but first make a cup of tea. Finish tea, oh - it's now raining. OK, back to the tiling. Get all the necessary tools together. Ah, need more tile adhesive (which is why it hasn't been finished). Bit of a waste to make a special journey just for that, I'll wait until I'm next in town (again). Hmm, what now? Make another cup of tea and check email and forums. One hour later, lunchtime - make a cup of tea. 2:03pm - The Archers. Oops, is it that time already?!
[Repeat throughout the afternoon]

So, I may be making slow progress but at least I'm not risking dehydration through lack of tea.

I thought Penners would have been on here by now extolling the virtue of kitkats with tea - but maybe he's assessing his response first.

Well so far I've done really well, picked broad beans, peas and runner beans.
Podded peas and broad beans.
About to slice runners.
3 cups of tea, no kit kat.

Campers now all gone out, so will cut grass while it is dry, then cut beans...............

I used to have that problem with tea when the girls were babies. I even got used to microwaving cold cups of tea. :shock:
I know...

Now, with my other obligations being rather less pressing than screaming twin babies, I'm glad to say I have my priorities right, and TEA COMES FIRST. 8)
