OT Just a little fun to help me make a decision

what type of car is it and what is wrong with it?

It's a Pajero with an electrical problem. It's going into the garage on Wednesday for a prognosis :roll: I love this vehicle and my heart is ruling my head. I'm quite prepared to spend £500+ on it to get it back on the road but I'm not sure it's a financially sound decision. Mr DWB thinks I'm nuts!! :lol: I might just have to think of it as a combined Christmas and birthday present to myself :lol: :lol: :lol:

Yes, I know about the Spanish thing :wink:

The problem is back lights, side lights and dash lights out. Plus there's a relay behind the nearside headlight buzzing. Had it to one place already but I think they tried to have my pants down :shock: Occupational hazard of being a female in a male dominated area of expertise :roll:

have you tried replacing the relay? if you find out what the relay is for then it might help you trace the source of the problem.
this would also be a good place to start.

a garage will charge you around £40 per hour labour , then parts , then v.a.t. , it shouldn't take longer than an hour for a competent mechanic to sort it.

I'm already in the owners club Been a member for about 8 years now.

The garage it's going to on Wednesday is charging me just £32ph + VAT, which I think is pretty decent. I'm hoping they'll fix it quickly They've come highly recommended, so I'm hoping for the best. I'll let you all know how I get on.

In the meantime, it would appear that the overwhelming majority of us would scrape the money together to save our favourite car, so at least I'm not on my own.....we're ALL nuts!!! :lol:

i dont see the point in scrapping a car when it breaks down , you will only end up buying another one which might break down also. its better the devil you know.
it sounds like you might have a bad earth somewhere. have you tried to find out prices/quotes from an auto electrician rather than a mechanic? might be worth it.

I do hope you get it sorted for a reasonable price. Just don't tell my dad, he'll be round with his carpentry tools and will wittle you new parts out of wood and soldering iron.

Jaqy - the one topic we haven't covered is the value of the vehicle, its mileage and its age. These would be critical in making your decision.
