Ok, it is a day early but our neighbours were going out Trick and Treating (they even brought their own treats - admittedly my cake did have a worm on the top...) so we dressed the house up a bit.
Wow that looks fabulous - what a clever idea the black cut-outs are. Amazing pumpkin too. Luckily we have no children round here so sleep soundly, unlike Essex where we were regularly accosted by groups of youths demanding money. :evil:
The American comedian, Paul Stookey, (also the Paul in Peter, Paul and Mary) said that the days of children shyly tapping at the door and muttering "trick or treat" are past. Today, he said, they arrive on motor cycles, kick down the door and demand, "OK grandad, what's it gonna be - the chocolate or your front window?"
Fortunately for us, our village is small enough and isolated enough that all the visitors were prearranged by the parents on the village email list. Seems best for all involved. It also helps that the village doesn't have any teenagers.
