Onto the next problem

So I've striped the bedrooms wood fibre boarded, lime plastered. All was good, been on holiday to Disney with the kids. Come back to find this.

Damp in the bottom corner of the window. I assume it's pooling on the ledge and getting in with all the rain and wind we have had. All along the outside around the window there is a plastic trim that has beads of water on it. Anybody suggest the best action to take. The plan is to get new windows soon (although not sure how long soon will be)

Bump, can somebody suggest what to seal outside with and should I know off, what I assume is concrete mortar?

I guess just a standard builders caulk would suffice James, there's many variants in Screwfix

My goto external sealant is Soudal Soudaseal 215LM. Anything that says its for sealing frames to masonry should work. You should dig out whatever is currently there rather than putting another layer on top.

I have a similar problem with water being forced between the window frame and the stone cill on a couple of windows here when its very windy. I did try to seal one up a few months back but there's still a tiny gap, can see daylight so no fault of the product, its the workmanship that's to blame. Water was dripping through the living room ceiling the other night so I should probably get back onto that...

Knock off? If the cement on the ingoes has cracked that could be another way for water to get in around the window frame so ideally yes. But its not really the right time of year to be doing lime based mortar outside. Definitely something to address when your new windows go in.

Little leaks like this have probably contributed to the rot in this house so not something to ignore. Over time the damage adds up.

Cheers for the responses. I'll go up and see the state but just do a temp repair job and hope it sorts it till summer.
