We have recently discovered that the external side wall of our end-terrace house, is one brick thick! This was covered in a thick render about 5 years ago (not by us - we only moved in a year ago!).
The survey did indicate some damp, but nothing to worry about.
However we have noticed recently inside of the wall is very cold and externally the paint on top of the render is flaking and there appears to be a crack in the render.
I am worried that the render has just simply sealed all the damp into the wall. and/or the crack in the render is now allowing water in? this wall takes the full brunt of the weather.
We want to get it sorted out and if possible allow the wall to 'breath' again.
any ideas where we could go from here?
