Hi all, my first post for many years, but I would value your advice.
The house I'm renovating has an attached dairy that is now the kitchen. The walls are single skin brick. The floor was originally laid with some porous old bricks and clay tiles, but the previous renovator dug them all up and relaid them in concrete with a dpm. This hasn't previously caused me any damp problems, but we recently have had some underfloor pipe leaks that have caused a lot of damage to the cement mortar grouting the floor. Now I'm rerouting the pipes through the roof void to prevent the problem reoccuring, but I'm wondering about what to regrout with. Typically I try to ensure everything is breathable, but this seems unnecessary given the underlying dpm. After we get the floor relaid, I'm also considering a floor sealant to make cleaning easier.
Would anyone anticipate problems? As I've said, the subfloor is already non porous (dpm) and there doesn't seem to be any problems with damp in the lower walls. Any recommendations for sealant?
Thanks for your help
Chris
