Hi
I moved into my house 3 years ago and I have been dealing with all the issues of a house built in the 1800s. The kitchen has been renovated by the previous owner but some of the walls suffer from condensation. I have sorted the window reveals on the 2 smaller windows by using insulated plasterboard and these are now dry. The plaster hasn't taken to the walls very well and after pulling some off it appears the walls have been painted with bitumen. Is this common practice to help to keep the damp out? I am intending on using an insulating board such as Wedi board to hopefully stop the mould on some of the walls that are very cold.
