Oak Floor

I have lifted the pine floor boards at first floor level, to expose the oak floorboards below. They are possibly original, circa 15C. What is the best approach to cleaning and waxing them. My conservation officer is not particularly knowledgeable in this area.

SPAB have some good leaflets on the subject. Dont have them sanded!

Thanks you. The care and repair of old floors is the about the only SPAB leaflet I don't have. It is now winging it's way towards me.

Could you describe the condition of the boards please?

Essentially sound, worn, wormy, very dusty, some holes, varying around a foot wide. Think they are original, therefore 15C, but could have been replaced around time of insertion of floor in hall (16C), as similar size and profile. The inserted floor has had some maintenance and these boards are waxed and look good. Would like the boards we have found in the north wing to look the same
