Cant be many left like that especially in London. No doubt some developer will strip it of all its features and turn it into 4 flats

Well isn’t that a treasure for an old home lover with a leaning towards restoration, it’s all there. It shows its history well, you can read it in the fixtures and the walls. For most of its life it had been taken care of and had evolved as the decades past. I would suggest the last ‘caring’ owner may have been in the late sixties or early seventies judging by the ‘mod’ wallpaper in the hallway. If I was there and in the market for an old home to restore I think this would be really tempting.
Those newer fire places, I would date them to the mid to late thirties, they have an Art Decco feel to them?

Mostly the rooms appear to need redecoration only.
I could just feel an eBay shopping expedition coming on, for suitable light fittings.
Although those 50s(?) fireplaces would probably get replaced with older, if it were me.
The kitchen is challenging in terms of deciding how much to preserve. Too easy just to fit it out. Yes, a gas light. And love that pendant fitting with the string. I wonder what the Wiring Regs say about string.
Shame about the front windows. But otherwise, great.
And shows that there is 'affordable' housing in London for those as are prepared to get off their a**e and do a bit of work. Our first house was very comparable in condition, including the kitchen. Albeit we did have an inside loo.

My house was in a similar state with better windows but less interior charm. It cost me 8 years of weekends and holidays, a load of cash, and a relationship.

The Ascots over the sink and basin look (as far as I can see) to be almost the latest versions available of flueless water heaters, late 80s or very early 90s perhaps.

That house is pretty much in the same condition mine was nine years ago - apart from the roof which on my house had missing slates and no hip coping. However, it does have more period features - mine never had coving for instance. The wet kitchen takes me back - it's as bad as the room where I am now sitting was in 2010! I don't think I could tackle it again...

If a house has its original front door it is likely to retain other period features. This conjecture is based on a property sample size of precisely one (my own late Victorian house) but is true for this house, which I think is probably Edwardian as bathroom seems to be from new but no tiled hallway (sadly).
It's a pity just one fireplace survives. Curious mixture of one over three and four panel doors, which I have seen together before (in a 1950s film). Floorboards look pretty good and haven't been hacked about for central heating pipes. The staircase soffit protruding into the 'dining room' / back parlour is rather ugly and could have been avoided entirely or made much less obstrusive if the stairs had winders at the top and a quarter-landing instead of the half-landing. Note the first step is tapered, similar to a winder.

Bit dodgy bidding on that one - after all, the EPC rating is still "awaited", what if they don't get it before the auction????? :shock:
At least the auctioneer did put up pictures of the roof (or lack thereof) as part of the listing, rather than just blithely pretending all was well.

That is literally a couple of roads from me. Not the best road in the world, but then there is not a lot of choice in Birmingham. My road is a cul de sac that runs down to the canal, on the other side of the main road to this one but apart from that much the same. Thanks for alerting me to this as those fireplaces will definitely go in a skip, so I shall endeavour to pull them out.
