Not sure of a period property application for this, since it looks like if applied to walls it would trap any moisture - the previous owner of our house achieved a similar effect on the stone floors by covering them with polythene sheeting, although the edges squelched a bit. However, had I been able to dunk the nice man doing our render in a vat of this two weeks ago he may have been happier about working outside in the pouring rain all day.

Agreed . . . and I would think that trapping moisture might not be an ideal characteristic for a training shoe either.
