New Clock

I do like old clocks, but I am by no means an expert. In fact I know almost nothing about clocks. However When I saw the label on this old clock on ebay I had to get it as my name is also Jerome! It's much nicer than I thought it would be considering it was a bit of an impulse buy!

Very well bought, internet search seemed to throw up quite a few references to that name of clock, and more to the point it's a pretty one. Will it find a home on a mantelpiece? Oh and if you ever call in someone to help you sort out a leak make sure they know you have a clock that ticks. I had an aircon service technician who spent about half an hour trying to track down "the second drip" that he could hear in the false ceiling, , I stopped the pendulum and ............

I must admit I had seen Jerome clocks before, but they were weird American gothic type clocks, which looked rather cheap and slightly odd, often with very kitch reverse painted glass panels. I had never seen a "British Jerome" clock before. I don't think this one is a high quality timepiece, but the case is nice, and even though the dial is just a cheap piece of tin with painted numbers, the proportions, colour and finish are good. i did buy this for a (currently non existent) mantlepiece, although I was originally looking for something completely different!

I was (mistakenly) addressed as Jerome at work this week, which I thought was a bit random - not the most common of names. Anyhow, nice little clock PP - my Stroud's Engineering Mathematics book has long since been consigned to a charity shop somewhere, and is no doubt doing a sterling job of holding a door open to this day!

I have a Victorian clock that I must get around to restoring, my Dad bought it in a junk shop (whatever happened to those? Oh yes, they raised their prices and called them antiques :roll: ) in the 1970's. It keeps terrible time, the mechanism needs stripping and cleaning - I just need to get around to it. I've even got an ultrasonic cleaning tank, bought for motorcycle carbs but also perfect for cleaning clock parts, so I really have no excuse

I once had a Stroud maths book but I got fed up with it and shot it several times with an air rifle. Oddly enough the only other thing I shot in that fed up moment was a clock which I still have, though it has a little hole in it now.
