We have recently purchased a 16th century thatched cottage.
The beams, doors and architraves to the property are coated in some indeterminate matt black finish, not disimilar to a blackboard paint. Not sure if this is water or oil based. We want this removed back to the original oak so the place does not look like some bad 1980's pub.
Most people seem to recommend a laborious process involving kling products. Unfortunately we do not have a lot of time to do the work (young family and all!) so can anyone recommend an alternative or better still a reputable firm who can sympathetcially restore the beams and doors?
