Natural environment: an invitation to shape the nature of England
Our natural environment underpins our economic prosperity, our health and our wellbeing. As a result, protecting the environment and enhancing biodiversity is one of Defra’s top 3 priorities, as outlined in the Department’s Structural Reform Plan.

A key commitment under this priority is the publication of a White Paper on the natural environment by spring 2011. We want all interested parties to have a say in shaping the development of the White Paper.

aaaaaaarggghhh, in my capacity as Chaiman of the local Chamber of Trade, I have recently spent two interminably boring meetings with our local Town Council pondering this proposed white paper, in conjunction with promoting Green Tourism around our beautiful (arghem) county!!

I always assume that PPUK would be a refuge from such beaurocratic paper pushing, however, Folks, bring it on--- I need some intelligent comments.

I've downloaded the document, which I shall read with interest.

Just a point worth noting: the deadline for responses is the 30th October. So you only have three months to make your feelings known.

I wonder whether grandiose proposals like "not another brick to be laid on greenfield sites until all derelict brownfield land has been used up" would be given so much as a glance.

It will take our Town Council much longer than October to even read the first couple of sentences.

I left the meeting 10 minutes before everybody else yesterday,and have just received the minutes to discover that minute 9 says 'Jocelyn *** to be asked to compare ( I Quote the spelling!!!!) the meeting between interested parties.'--- Get the drift!

Looks like I've got some bed time reading to do, WHAT A CRASHING BORE.

Funny isn't it!! Our TC tries sooooo hard, bless their cotton socks. They have just complained that they find the Chamber of Trade minutes difficult to read!

Anyway, I digress from what PPUK is really about-- so I must stop ranting about off subject issues.
