Mystery solved ( hopefully)

After a long moan at 'him indoors ' about the exceptional condensation problem in the Drawing room this morning we think we have the answer. By process of elimination we discounted all the usual night time heating etc and then realised that, unusually, the washing machine was on after midnight washing all the doggy blankets. Not only that, but the connecting doors from the kitchen through to the dining room and drawing room were open, as was the hall door and the utility room where the machine is. I hope that is the reason, if so we know what to do. Last winter those doors were kept shut at night!!!!! Durrghh

I know, it's elementary-- just goes to show how one takes everything for granted , so the jolt was no bad thing-- unless the same happens tomorrow after making sure that everything is closed tonight.

Normal condensation this morning--- just a mere misting at the bottom of the windows! Lesson learnt!

and why would the washing machine contibute to the humidity in the house?

Unless it was leaking... :shock:

Or generating enough heat to warm the drawing room... :shock: :shock:

I'd just like to echo what 'marm said Joss, I experienced the same thing.

Yesterday morning was thick frost here, and this morning just a whisper of frost - I wonder if that makes a difference?

I think my house is still drying out a bit from my steamy stripping in the dining room, and subsequent scrubbing of the boards!

Hmmmmm, oh well, your experiences do make my reasoning wobble a bit---- it must have been a very sudden drop in temperature then. Odd though because the garden was not white with frost yesterday, but it certainly was this morning, in fact quite close to the house .

The plot thickens!! I am still visualising the vapours coming out of the utility, turning left through the kitchen doorway, turning right through another doorway into the inner hall, through another doorway into the main hall, then sharply left into the drawing room and through the thick curtains onto the windows!!!!!! :shock:

Actually I think I need to forget all about it, this business of carbon footprints, heat loss etc is freaking me out. It seems that all one can do is be sensible.
